A 19-year-old woman has been sentenced to TWO DAYS of jail time after pleading guilty to reckless endangerment for pushing her former friend off a bridge and down to a 50-foot fall into the water below.
Tay’lor Smith (pictured in court, above) pled guilty to the misdemeanor earlier this month; the incident itself took place back on August 7 in Vancouver, Washington when Smith surprised 16-year-old Jordan Holgerson by coming up behind her and pushing her off the bridge at a popular swimming area.

Holgerson fell more than 50 feet into the water below, and sustained serious injuries, including fractured ribs, severe bruising, and a punctured lung.
Both women spoke in court on Wednesday ahead of Smith’s plea agreement, as reported by WMC-5 Action News. Holgerson, who broke down into tears while speaking about her injuries and recovery, said (below):
“I didn’t ask for any of this but last summer my said-to-be good friend changed my life for the worse. This nightmare started for me when I was falling through the air.”
She also revealed that she is still physically recovering from her massive injuries — and worse yet, she has developed panic attacks and major anxiety ever since the day Smith pushed her.

Holgerson’s mother, Genelle, also spoke to the media after the verdict:
“We feel lucky today that she’s alive. My issue is that Tay’lor has had no sympathy.”
According to the family, Smith never visited Holgerson at the hospital or at home while the girl recovered. To add insult to injury, Smith is also accused of lying to the media when she initially said Holgerson told her to push her off the bridge. (For what it’s worth, as you can see HERE, direct video evidence from the fall would appear to contradict that claim by Smith.)
Judge pushes for jail time!
Regardless, Smith has now pled guilty and been sentenced; the initial terms of the plea agreement didn’t require her to serve any jail time, but Clark County District Court Judge Darvin Zimmerman, the presiding judge in the case, felt this was a particularly egregious example of reckless endangerment with Holgerson being so seriously injured, and so he wanted to ensure Tay’lor learned her lesson with at least some jail time.
For that, she’ll serve two days in jail, spend another 38 days working with a work crew for the county, and pay a $300 fine. Smith has also been ordered to have no contact with Holgerson for two years, though their friendship has by now completely dissolved, so that may not be a problem.
This whole thing is crazy, Perezcious readers!
