It wasn’t over! It still isn’t over!
That’s what fans of the romance classic The Notebook are saying after trying to watch it on Netflix UK — and finding they’ve gone and CHANGED the bloody ending!

[SPOILER ALERT]
As fans know all too well, the final scene of the film finds the elderly couple (James Garner and Gena Rowlands) after Allie finally remembers who she and Noah are. They then die in one another’s arms, reunited forever.
OK, give us a second. *sniff* Alright, moving on.
From what we can gather from various accounts, that scene has been completely removed. In its place, a scene from earlier in the film in which elderly Noah says goodbye to Allie for the night, promising to tell her the story again tomorrow.
WTF?! How could you change the beautiful perfect ending like that? That’s like giving the Mona Lisa dimples because she tested “too enigmatic” in focus groups!
Cinephiles have been slowly discovering the change over the past couple months, and they are NOT happy!

So far Netflix UK has not apologized for the ridiculous move, nor have they said they would fix it.
For our money, the only thing that could make this any better is if it turned out they’d been sending out the correct ending for seven years, but all our parents had been hiding it from us.
OMG, SEE THE MOVIE, PEOPLE!
Just, you know, not on Netflix UK.
