Not today, Florida Man!
A group of brothers and cousins from Indiana fended off an assailant who tried to rob them at a Florida gas station during their spring break last week.
Brothers Alec and Jacob Tanoos and their cousins, Alex and Aric Wisbey, were spring breaking in South Beach early Sunday morning when a man approached them with a gun and instructed them to hand over all their valuables.
The incident reportedly occurred when the group was on their way back from a birthday party. While gassing up near their hotel in Fort Lauderdale, the would-be robber allegedly approached Alec and pressed a gun into his stomach.

Speaking to reporters after the attack, Alec said he was pumping gas when the gunman appeared, recalling:
“It didn’t seem real, it seemed like it was out of a movie. He just walked up and had the gun on me.”
Surveillance footage from the gas station showed the gunman running up to the victims in what looked like a shirt wrapped around his face. He reportedly told the guys, all in their 20s, to “give me everything you got.”
But the group wasn’t about to go down without a fight. Explaining how their instincts took over, Alex remembered:
“When I noticed the gun, you know, it was fight mode, automatically, for me.”
Boldly choosing fight over flight, Jacob went to grab the man’s gun as Alex attempted to put him in a chokehold. They managed to tackle the gunman to the ground — but the altercation was just getting started.
Little did the spring breakers know, there was a second man in the gunman’s car, who soon joined the tussle and tried to pull the boys appart. Jacob recounted:
“Don’t know there’s a second guy in the car. He comes out and he pushes me off of him.”
After a few minutes of throwing punches and rolling on the ground, Aric somehow gained control of the attacker’s gun. He said he pointed the firearm at the attackers and told them to leave — and get a job! Ha!
Aric remembered:
“I finally get my hand on the gun and I jerk it away. Once I raise the gun they both took off back to their car and we were just screaming.”
As for why he held off on shooting the would be robbers, Aric explained:
“Those guys, those are sons of somebody. Those are fathers of somebody. Those are brothers to somebody.”

The attackers then fled in a dark-colored vehicle while the victims-turned-heroes left the scene with just a few minor cuts and bruises.
Following the attack, Broward County police officers arrested Kevin Campbell, whom they identified as the suspect who tried to help the initial attacker. The 33-year-old Campbell was charged with armed robbery and was being held on $10,000 bond.
The gunman, however, is still on the loose.
