R. Kelly is back on social media.
On Tuesday, the disgraced entertainer posted on Instagram for the first time in months to wish his daughter Joann Kelly a happy 21st birthday.

We can’t understand why Robert would return to social media now, amid everything going on with him, like the possibility of jail time.
Maybe he wants to remind us all he’s a talented vocalist? Or the star is bold enough to think that we or his victims would want anything short of an apology and full confession from him.
But alas, here we are.
He captioned the video post (below) with “Family for life ???? ?.”
After singing the birthday tune, Kelly speaks directly to the camera and addresses his daughter with the message (below):
“Happy birthday, baby. Daddy love you. I love you, no matter what. I love you so much. Bye. Happy birthday.”
R. Kelly also posted the birthday tribute to his Twitter account, too.
As we previously mentioned, this is the first time we’ve spotted the 52-year-old online since his last post promoting new music in the works (barf!) on January 1.
In the time since the R&B singer’s social media hiatus, he has continued to deny all accusations of sexual abuse that were brought to the forefront by Lifetime‘s Surviving R. Kelly docuseries. Things quickly spiraled from that point.
For those who need a refresher, Kelly turned himself in to authorities late last month after being charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal and sexual abuse in Cook County, Illinois. He was released after three days.
Just over a week later, Kelly was detained again, this time for failing to pay $161,663 in child support. An anonymous “benefactor” fronted the cash to secure his release on March 9.

The singer previously told CBS‘ Gayle King in an explosive interview (HERE) that he’d “bet his breath” that his children want to have a relationship with him, “but they’re pressured and I get it. They’re pressured, so I get it. But I believe that’s gonna change in due time.”
At the time, he further explained his strained paternal relationship, saying:
“I’m really not really fighting for my career here. I’m fighting for my rights and I’m fighting to have a relationship with my kids, most of all, more than anything. I want a relationship with my kids because I have missed a lot of years of their life. They love me. I love them.”
We guess this birthday message was Kelly’s attempt at smoothing things over with Joann…
But he shouldn’t hold his breath for too long there, as the last time we checked in with the 21-year-old, she straight up called him a “monster.”
