A Grand Jury Has Reportedly Been Selected In New Case Against R. Kelly

A grand jury has reportedly been convened in Cook County, Illinois in connection to new allegations against R. Kelly, two sources have shared with CNN.

This reported jury seating comes days after Michael Avenatti‘s announcement that he handed over a new tape to the State Attorney’s office allegedly showing the singer engaging in “multiple sex acts with a girl,” where the girl refers to herself and her body as being “14 years old.”

However, the I Believe I Can Fly singer’s lawyer, Steve Greenberg shared with CNN on Monday that he had not been notified that a grand jury was convened:

“No one from law enforcement has contacted me or my client regarding any potential investigation. Certainly they are aware that I am representing him so if there were any reason to speak to him I would suspect they would have reached out to me. Grand jury proceedings are, by law, supposed to be secret, so to the extent people are commenting on what may or may not be going on today are possibly violating the law. Still, I can tell you that I am unaware of any proceedings.”
CNN has confirmed the existence of the “clear and explicit” videotape, though Tandra R. Simonton, chief communications officer for the State’s Attorney’s Office would not “confirm or deny an investigation.”

Time for the justice system to do its job!!
