Matthew McConaughey went a little too method while playing a beachside stoner in his new film The Beach Bum — all thanks to Snoop Dogg’s dank weed!
The costars stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday night to promote the newly released comedy, and shared a hilarious story where Snoop accidentally got the Oscar winner too stoned to speak.
As they explained to Jimmy Kimmel, the rapper switched out one of the film’s prop joints with one of his own — one that was full of very real marijuana — on the first day they were filming together. Completely oblivious to the switch was the Dallas Buyers Club star, who was too busy getting into character of the film’s eponymous beach bum, Moondog.

The actor assumed he was smoking a joint stuffed with oregano… but he was not. He was smoking a Snoop-approved joint, which is safe to assume is filled with some of the most powerful weed known to mankind.
Needless to say, the stuff hit him pretty hard. He explained on Kimmel:
“We do the scene and it’s about an eight-minute take, [which is] a long take if you’re passing a joint back and forth and you’re smoking hardcore to the heels of your feet. So the scene goes on and right after the scene I just feel like, ‘Man, I’m not sure that was a prop…’ And I look over and Snoop goes, ‘Yo, Moondog, that wasn’t prop weed, that was Snoop weed.’”
Uh no!
Sure, other actors might have stopped filming at a time like this. But we’re not talking about Bradley Cooper or Leonardo DiCaprio here: we’re talking about Matthew f**king McConaughey. He’s never one to spoil a good time.

So, Mac Daddy kept the party going. He continued:
“I said, ‘Okay man. Buckle up because here we go!’ ”
Sadly, things turned into a bit of a wreck from there.
According to Snoop, the actor proceeded to rap for “13 hours straight” — most of which was apparently not in English. McConaughey added:
“I didn’t speak another word of English, really. It was one of those highs where I didn’t really catch my breath until 5:30 the next day.”
Snoop ended up having to fill the 46-year-old in on the hazy details the next day. McConaughey recalled the rapper telling him:
“You were great, Moondog. You hit 4 in the park home runs.”
Ha! Hopefully, Moondog’s rap will be included in the director’s cut.
