Luke Perry is a “strong candidate” for a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame — but now, after his sudden death earlier this month from complications related to a stroke, the process to enshrine him is going to take several years.
It’s easy to see based on the outpouring of love received by the former Beverly Hills 90210 star that he made an indelible mark in television and pop culture… and more recent work on Riverdale and elsewhere further solidifies his resume as a legit TV mainstay deserving of permanent enshrinement in Hollywood.
No argument there, right?! Well, now that Perry has passed, that’s not really the issue.

According to TMZ, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce would be “very happy” to consider Perry for a star on the Walk of Fame… but it’s going to take at least five years before they can slap his achievement on the cement.
The Application Process
Were Perry still alive, ironically, the process would actually be considerably easier; typically, a celeb can be nominated by anyone, and as part of the application process the celeb themselves must include a personal written statement that he/she wants the star and will attend the ceremony when it happens.
There are some other components to getting on the Walk of Fame — like how the celeb has to donate about $30,000 to produce and care for the physical star itself — but for living celebs, the application process is pretty simple and straightforward, all things considered.
A Five-Year Wait…
For deceased celebs, though, the process slows down considerably. First, a celeb’s living family members must give their explicit permission for the process to produce and place a Star — and there’s no indication yet whether Perry’s family would or wouldn’t be down for it.
Second, and more importantly, only one deceased celeb nominee can be approved each year, and apparently that’s only after a five-year waiting period.
So if Perry’s process moves along according to this past precedent, the fastest he’d receive a Star on the Walk of Fame is five years after his death: March 4, 2024.
Per TMZ, though, it’s nearly a sure thing, as they report to “mark your calendars, ’cause it’s gonna happen.” Sounds pretty certain, even this far out!!!

Application process and nominee waits or not, Perry certainly has done enough to warrant a spot on the Walk of Fame. In addition to his considerable TV work with 90210 and Riverdale, he has also starred in several movies, including Quentin Tarantino‘s upcoming Charles Manson movie Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
Furthermore, Perry has had other prominent TV roles in shows like Oz, Another World, John From Cincinnati, Windfall, and Body of Proof. That’ll do it!
What do U think, Perezcious readers?! Are you banking on Perry’s Walk of Fame addition to come on that exact date in 2024? Do U agree that he definitely deserves a spot on the Walk??
