Another one of Luke Perry’s Beverly Hills, 90210 costars is honoring the late actor.
On the March 14 episode of his podcast, Brian Austin Green spoke in detail about his former colleague and longtime friend, just over a week after Perry passed away.
Commenting on the tragic death, which came days after Perry suffered a massive stroke, the 45-year-old actor said:
“Luke was a special guy. I’m still mourning over it, so there’s a part of me that’s kind of shocked that I’m speaking about Luke this way.”
Megan Fox’s husband went on to reveal that the cast of the beloved teen soap reunited at Gabrielle Carteris‘ house to honor their fallen former cast mate — an event that turned into a mini high school reunion, so to speak.

Green recalled:
“People I haven’t seen in like, 18 years at least. It was very mixed emotions, because you were happy to everybody and you felt like, ‘God, it’s been too long,’ and it was great, but what a horrible reason to have to see everybody again. It was definitely interesting.”
While Green said the group knew they’d have to deal with losing cast members and friends at some point down the road, he noted that losing Perry at just 52 years old “in such an abrupt way” is something none of them were prepared for.
The death was so tragic, some of the cast — like Green — are still struggling to come to terms with the fact that Perry is no longer with them.
He continued:
“I don’t totally believe it. There’s a part of me, much like the death of Elvis, that I expect Luke to walk around a corner in an airport or at a gas station. I don’t fully believe that Luke is gone. Luke has been in my life for a long time, and we had a really special relationship. I’m learning now that Luke really had a special relationship with a lot of people.”
For the 45-year-old actor, continuing that special relationship even after learning about Perry’s death was something he felt compelled to do. He added:
“I even texted him after he had passed, knowing obviously that he can’t text me back, but on some level hoping that he would text me back or that he was out there somewhere. And I know he is. I know he’s looking down and I know he’s smiling. … Knowing Luke, he is not one that wants us to mourn him. He wants us to celebrate him.”
Those lucky enough to know him agree that Perry lived a life worth celebrating — because he always made those in his life feel celebrated.
And he was just as cool as you’d expect Luke Perry to be.
Green said the Riverdale actor was “a glue type of person” who remained “so consistent” throughout the years, adding:
“Luke was a really f**king cool guy. Luke was one of those people that nobody had a bad story about. He was just a great guy. And he was Luke, no matter where you saw him, no matter when you saw him, no matter what he was going through. He was a rock… I’m extremely lucky to have had him in my life. He really is a great guy and he’ll be missed. He was the guy that you would go to if you wanted someone consistent. You knew how he was going to react. You knew he was going to say something funny. He was really sharp-witted. He was just really honest.”

Green is just the latest 90210 alum to express his sadness over Perry’s passing. Shannen Doherty, Tori Spelling, and Jason Priestly have paid tribute to the late actor in the past two weeks, all utterly heartbroken over the loss of their mentor and big brother figure.
Our hearts go out to all those grieving over Perry’s death at this time. By the sound of it, there’s a lot of them.
