In the press conference today, police said Jussie orchestrated the alleged attack, with the help of two Nigerian brothers who he paid $3,500. His alleged motivation was a desired salary increase on his FOX show.
In this afternoon’s bail hearing, State of Illinois Circuit Court of Cook County Judge John Fitzgerald Lyke Jr. set Jussie’s bond at $100,000 and he was ordered to surrender his passport.
In text messages read aloud in court, Smollett allegedly gave the two brothers connected to the staged attack $100 to buy supplies.
Smollett’s siblings, including Jazz, Jake, and Jocqui traveled to Chicago to be by their brother’s side. He is now represented by Geragos & Geragos law firm.
