A grand jury will reportedly hear the Jussie Smollett case sometime early this week, according to a report out this afternoon on TMZ.
Law enforcement sources close to the investigation have revealed that the two Nigerian brothers previously detained as suspects in the case are “under the watchful eye of police so no one gets to them” ahead of the grand jury investigation.

Cops apparently “especially want to make sure” that Jussie does not have any contact with either of the brothers.
According to sources related to this investigation, Jussie was asked early on if he’d sign complaints against the two men who attacked him — and when he found out that the two brothers (who he knew) were the ones in custody, he “said he knew them, felt bad for them, and declined to sign the complaints.”
Hmmm…
It’s a tricky scenario, and the grand jury may shed more light on it this coming week.
Of course, prosecutors can use grand juries in many different good and not-so-good ways, so we may not see a resolution in the case for quite some time…
