Jussie Smollett Alleged Attack: Cops Under Investigation -- Hospital Workers May Have Been Fired!

Jussie Smollett is not the only one in hot water over his alleged January Chicago attack.

According to TMZ on Thursday, Chicago PD‘s Chief of Detectives has launched an internal investigation regarding authorities who may or may not have leaked stories to the media.

Apparently, there has been an enormous amount of “inaccurate” information, and the organization wants to know who is putting it out there.

A spokesperson told the publication:

“When there are allegations of information being leaked, an internal investigation has been opened and we are also looking at our vulnerabilities.”

Additionally, on Wednesday, CBS Chicago reported that dozens of hospital workers at Northwestern Memorial Hospital — where the Empire star was treated after allegedly getting attacked in a hate crime — may have been fired.

Reportedly, the staffers got in trouble for improperly reviewing the actor’s medical records, specifically for gaining access to his medical chart.

One nurse was reportedly axed but claimed it was a misunderstanding, and said she never accessed Smollett’s chart. Apparently, last Tuesday, she was called in at the end of her shift, was fired on the spot, and was escorted out of the hospital. She said she was not asked any questions, and never had a chance to offer an explanation.

On January 29, Smollett claimed he was walking home from a Subway restaurant when two offenders yelled racial and homophobic slurs, and then attacked him.

Last month, he was arrested for allegedly filing a false police report related to the alleged incident. He was later released on $100,000 bond.

Chicago PD alleged the 36-year-old orchestrated the incident because he was “dissatisfied with his salary” on his Fox show. They also alleged he paid Ola and Abel Osundairo — who worked on Empire — to assist.

However, last month, a TMZ source said the 36-year-old paid the two to train him for five weeks for an upcoming music video. Allegedly, the thespian wanted abs like Ola, so the brothers agreed to work out with him, as well as give him a 5-week nutrition plan.

When Smollett wrote the alleged check for $3500 days before the “attack,” the memo line allegedly read, “5 weeks training nutrition plan.” The brothers also reportedly told the Grand Jury they were paid for the gym sessions — NOT for the “attack.”

Jussie has plead not guilty.
