Chicago PD Frustrated Jussie Smollett 'Has Not Made Himself Available In A Timely Fashion' For Another Interview

It seems like the Chicago Police Department is becoming increasingly more frustrated with Jussie Smollett.

Hours after reports came out about the potential for a full grand jury investigation into the Empire actor’s alleged attack in Chicago late last month, police sources are now revealing serious frustrations with the actor.

Chicago PD sources confessed there’s a growing urgency within the investigation to get Smollett in for a second interview, after new developments have come to the surface about his alleged role in the attack itself.

And yet Smollett, through his legal team, has consistently denied the opportunity to take a second interview — something cops aren’t too crazy about.

A “well-placed source” spoke to Deadline about it on Sunday, sharing “a sense of frustration” with the fact that Smollett has “not made himself available in a timely fashion” to speak to investigators.

The source continued (below):

“There are a lot of questions that need to be answered, and a sense of frustration with the response by Smollett and his lawyers.”

Not a good thing…

This new, deeper inquiry into Smollett’s alleged assault has cops re-focusing on the actor’s version of events, and police are reportedly increasingly skeptical that the Empire star may have had possible “pre-knowledge” of what was going to take place.

We’ll see if Smollett ultimately meets with cops to clear things up, or if he continues to take the advice of legal counsel to wait this out.

Meanwhile, Chicago PD’s Chief Communications Officer Anthony Guglielmi is still unable to state as of today whether the star is a victim, suspect, or person of interest, telling The Blast:

“We have some information that needs to be corroborated and verified with the Empire cast member before we can answer this question.”

Regardless, we no doubt haven’t heard the last of this case…

We’ll keep you updated throughout as more developments rise to the surface.
