Former 'Glee' Star Jesse Luken Officially Charged With DUI -- Three Months After Initial Arrest

Another run-in with the law for a Glee alum… this time, it’s Jesse Luken facing justice after officially being charged with driving under the influence a full three months after his arrest back in December on suspicion of DUI.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office charged the actor with one misdemeanor count of DUI, and one misdemeanor count of driving with at least a .08 blood alcohol content, after Luken was initially busted last December by cops in Los Angeles.

At the time, cops said Luken’s Toyota was found up on the curb with its front airbag deployed and its right tire mangled, but fortunately nobody was hurt, and no other cars were involved. Jesse was in the front seat, and according to TMZ, he “reeked of booze” when cops showed up. He then apparently failed the field sobriety tests given to him by officers at the scene of the accident.

It’s unclear at this point why the charge came so late after his arrest all the way back in December, but now the wheels of justice will continue to turn — per reports, Luken’s arraignment has been set for next month at a court in Glendale.

It really makes you wonder, though… with another Glee star hitting the news for another not-so-good story after the end of the show’s run, is there a curse here?

The Glee Curse?

If it feels to you like Luken is far from the only Glee cast member to have his fair share of issues with the law — and the realities of life — after a successful run on the show, well, you’re right. There’s something of a Glee curse going around, if we’re being honest… and it’s certainly not limited to a minor DUI charge here. Below, look back at five high-profile Glee cast member problems that popped up after the show’s run, and let us know what YOU think — do you believe in the Glee curse?

Cory Monteith

Without question, the most shocking of all the news the Glee cast has made after the show is the untimely death of Cory Monteith. The man who played the lovable Finn Hudson on the show was found dead in a hotel room in Vancouver on July 13, 2013; an autopsy later revealed that the TV star had died of an overdose of a lethal mix of heroin and alcohol. The death came as a considerable shock to both fans and the entire cast of Glee, including Monteith’s girlfriend and co-star Lea Michele, and his passing remains one of the most heartbreaking, untimely recent Hollywood deaths of the last decade that brings back lots of emotion, even today.

Mark Sailing

Mark Salling, who played bad-boy Noah “Puck” Puckerman, died in January 2018 after pleading guilty several weeks earlier to possessing child pornography. He was just 35 years old. A month earlier, he had pled guilty in court after authorities found more than 50,000 images of child porn on his computer; he had been scheduled for sentencing two months later, and it was likely he’d have served up to seven years in prison for the crime had he not committed suicide.

Naya Rivera

Naya Rivera, who played cheerleader Santana Lopez, dealt with a domestic battery charge in late 2017, though it was ultimately dismissed in January 2018 after her husband decided not to seek prosecution. She’s had a very public, very controversial on-again, off-again relationship with her ex, and the pair struggled with multiple high-profile legal and domestic dramas during their time together, leading up to the first domestic violence incident in West Virginia over the Thanksgiving holiday in 2017.

Nude photo scandals

This one certainly isn’t their fault, but multiple Glee female stars were caught up in nude photo scandals after the end of the show’s run. Several women who had high profiles on the hit Fox show had private nude photos hacked and leaked online: Lea Michele, Heather Morris, Becca Tobin, and Melissa Benoist all had to deal with the aftermath of their private, personal photos flung across the internet for all to see. Talk about an invasion of privacy…

Jesse Luken

And now, Jesse Luken can add his name to the list of Glee cast members who have had not-so-nice run-ins with reality after the show’s wildly successful run ended. Oh, and as for Jesse with this DUI charge here, the man who played the dirty blonde jock Bobby ‘Boom Boom’ Surette’ on Glee has no earlier DUI record, and so it’s likely he’ll get the usual first-time punishment: probation, and a mandatory alcohol education program. This little run-in with the law clearly isn’t of the same level as Sailing or Monteith, but it’s still an unfortunate occurrence for yet another Glee alum.

Who will be next?
