'The Texas Chain Saw Massacre' introduced some iconic elements that would go on to become horror staples: the masked killer, the Final Girl, the cannibalistic hillbilly family, just to name a few. While its sequels and reboots were all incredibly gorey, the OG was comparably light on violence. What made the film so unsettling was it’s artistically rendered claustrophobic atmosphere, which made audiences feel like they, too, were unable to escape.
