On July 18, 1989, Robert John Bardo traveled to Los Angeles from Tucson, Arionza, and confronted actress Rebecca Schaeffer at her Hollywood apartment, shooting and killing her. He had been stalking Schaeffer -- and a host of other celebs -- for years. In 1991, Bardo was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, despite his legal team arguing that he was mentally insane at the time of the shooting.
In 2007, while serving out his sentence at Mule Creek State Prison in Amador County, California, Bardo was stabbed 11 times by a fellow inmate, and nearly bled to death. As of early 2019, the infamous killer is housed at Avenal State Prison in California's Central Valley.
