PocahontasThe Disney ending: This film didn't get the stereotypical "happily ever after" ending, but instead sent the hero John Smith sailing back to England, leaving the beautiful titular Native in America with her tribe.
The original ending: The only Disney princess movie based on a true story, the "sad" ending to "Pocahontas" is still miles happier than what happened IRL...
After John Smith returned to England, Pocahontas was kidnapped before she was forced to convert to Christianity and marry John Rolfe. Years later, she visited London and was put on display as a "civilized" Native American, but died of unknown causes (most likely from the array of European diseases she had never been exposed to in America) before she could return home.
