Dave Chappelle is in hot water over his remarks on John Mayer‘s Instagram Live show Current Mood on Sunday night.
It all started when the Chappelle’s Show star referred to Canadian singer and songwriter Daniel Caesar, who was in the same room, as “very gay.”

Almost immediately, the comedian backtracked by saying:
“Huh? Oh, I’m sorry, did I say that out loud? I’m just kidding.”
A stunned Mayer uttered “What?” under his breath.
Chappelle continued to backpedal, saying he was jealous that John “had other black friends,” and later called Caesar “amazing.”
However, things really hit the fan when Caesar was heard confronting Dave, asking:
“What the f**k was that?”
John tried to diffuse the situation by saying everyone but him was drunk, but Chappelle couldn’t help but joke that “if I fistfight on your show, I’ll be furious.”
Mayer then suggested to Dave that he should clean his remark up, saying:
“Dave, people just saw for a minute what happens when you speak freely and you have alcohol in you’re working free association and you accidentally say something that trips someone’s feelings up. But you have to clean it up.”
Chappelle replied:
“No! I’ll tell you right now… Daniel, you’re great. Before this broadcast started, me and this brother sat at a piano and he played expertly. Beautifully. I knew for a fact that I was in the presence of not just someone that was good, but someone that was great. But the fact that I offended you…”
Ultimately, Caesar conceded that he was being “sensitive,” and the two squashed their beef by hugging it out.

Immediately after the clip went viral, Twitter users couldn’t contain their thoughts regarding the cringeworthy moment.
They wrote:
