The moon was full, the air was sweet… overall, it was the perfect night for Ariana Grande to kick off her Sweetener Tour!
The pop superstar commenced her massive world tour in Albany, New York on Monday night at the Times Union Center, where she destroyed Arianators with a sweet 29-song setlist divided into five acts.
Most of the music came from her two most recent albums, Sweetener and thank u, next, including live debuts of break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored, 7 rings, bloodline, and NASA. Ari also included past jams like Everytime, One Last Time, Break Free, and no tears left to cry.

The evening concluded with an encore performance of thank u, next, during which the songstress suffered minor microphone issues. But, of course, “it wouldn’t be opening night without one thing going wrong,” she told the crowd.
According to BBC News, the 25-year-old originally included ghostin and imagine in her setlist, but she ultimately decided those songs — both about her relationship with the late Mac Miller — were “too heavy” to sing live.
However, Miss Grande still found a way to pay tribute to her deceased love: many noted on social media that Miller’s music, including his song Dang!, played over the arena’s PA system as fans waited for the superstar to take the stage.

The stage was built in the shape of a ring (obvi) and included two spherical video screens. The venue also had voter registration booths set up inside encouraging fans to register ahead of the 2020 presidential election.
Ariana’s Sweetener Tour continues tomorrow in Boston and runs through October, with headlining appearances at Coachella and Manchester Pride packed in along the way. Watch clips and full performances from the first night — along with the singer’s full setlist and list of tour dates (below)!
