But things got emotional for the 25-year-old as she cried after mentioning Mac Miller during her performance of the hit single in Washington, D.C., making it hard for her to continue singing the rest of the track.

Thankfully, her backup singers came through with support as fans also sang the lyrics for Grande.
You may remember it was only in September that her ex passed away due to an accidental overdose with the coroner’s report pointing to “mixed drug toxicity” as the main culprit. The rapper was said to have fentanyl and cocaine in his system, along with alcohol.
Only six months later, and she is still mourning the loss of Miller.
As you can see (below), the singer struggled to finish her performance of the song in concert:

Following the show, Ari took to Twitter to apologize to fans over her “super emo” display, writing:
“thanks for accepting my humanness. it’s super emo and difficult singing some of these songs. but you make me smile. i look like penny pingleton here. i love u and thanks. i feel your warmth up there and it helps and is greatly appreciated. ?”

We can only imagine!!
Especially as it was only late last week that the former Nickelodeon star posted about letting go of someone who “can’t help but hurt you.”
The post, which she credited to Horacio Jones and @the_enlighten_core, read:
“Sometimes, the reason for letting someone go is because they can’t help but hurt you during this phase of their life. When you love someone deeply, you learn what demons live within them and you realize that they are hurting you because they are hurting somewhere within themselves. They are fighting a battle within and may not even know it, so they take it out on you and fight you.”
It continued:
“Decide to let them go, but not because you’re being petty and resentful. You let them go because you really believe that the both of you can find the healing you truly need without being together and hurting each other in the process. Letting someone go doesn’t mean you stop loving and caring about anyone. Letting go means you’re choosing freedom over the illusion of loyalty.”
Ari learned this the hard way after her split with Mac, hinting at the time it was because of his substance abuse problems.
But yesterday, she also paid tribute to the late artist by posting pictures of his dog, Myron, whom he adopted in 2017, but she has since taken under her wing:

Plus, Grande marked the six-year anniversary of hers and Miller’s track The Way on her Instagram Story:
Stay strong, girl! You’re doing the best you can!
