Luke Perry‘s daughter, Sophia, is speaking out.
As we reported, the 52-year-old actor passed away on Monday, nearly a week after suffering a stroke at his Sherman Oaks, California home. He was under observation in a Burbank, California hospital since Wednesday, but sadly never made a recovery.

On Tuesday, the thespian’s 18-year-old daughter — who was in Africa when her father suffered health issues last week — posted the (above) photo of the two on Instagram with the following emotional caption.
She wrote:
“A lot has happened in this past week for me. Everything is happening so fast. I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family, And in the past 24 hours I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support. I cannot individually respond to the hundreds of beautiful and heartfelt messages, but I see them, and appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I. I’m not really sure what to say or do in this situation, it’s something you aren’t ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it’s all happening in the public eye. So bare with me and know that I am grateful for all the love. Just, being grateful quietly.”
The 90210 alum and ex-wife, Rachel Sharp, also share 21-year-old son Jack. The two married in 1993 before splitting in 2003.
Perry later got engaged to Wendy Madison Bauer.

The star — who portrayed the character of “Fred Andrews” — appeared on the hit show since its debut in 2016, playing the father of “Archie Andrews” (KJ Apa).
Executive producers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Jon Goldwater shared a statement with Warner Bros. TV and The CW after news of his death broke, writing:
“We are deeply saddened to learn today about the passing of Luke Perry. A beloved member of the Riverdale, Warner Bros. and CW family, Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all. A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness. Our thoughts are with Luke’s family during this most difficult time.”
Aguirre-Sacasa added on social media:
“So heartbroken about Luke. He was a father, brother, friend, and mentor. Each night before he had to shoot a scene, he’d call me and we’d talk about…everything. I will miss those calls. And my heart goes out to all his family and friends.”
