R. Kelly Pleads Not Guilty On All Charges Of Sexual Abuse

Following spending two nights in custody after being unable to post 10 percent of his $1 million bail, R. Kelly made an appearance in court Monday morning, pleading not guilty to all ten criminal sexual abuse charges.

The R&B singer was escorted into a Chicago courtroom today in an orange jumpsuit by the sheriff’s Emergency Response team. This team is brought in for high-profile defendants or those who pose a potential safety risk, according to Chicago Tribune reporter Megan Crepeau, who was in the courtroom along with Michael Avenatti and one of the Surviving R. Kelly subject’s accusers.

His attorney Steve Greenberg entered a plea of not guilty in the Cook County courthouse, and clarified before Judge Lawrence Flood that he would not need to post delayed child support payments in order to be released from custody.

Attorney Michael Avenatti came out on Twitter today, claiming there will be a second video provided, with this one allegedly showing Kelly engaging in the sexual assault of a minor. See his tweet (below):

The singer’s next court date is set for March 22 at 10 a.m. local time.

As we previously reported, the disgraced crooner turned himself over to authorities on Friday after facing ten counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, spanning at least two decades, and could face up to 70 years in prison if convicted.
